Photograph of the Hall of Private Audience and gardens of Agra Fort. The hall is in the Mughal architectural style with five arches and a flat roof with two chhatris, elevated dome-shaped pavilions. There is a formal garden with trees and a raised pond in the foreground. The Taj Mahal can be seen in the distance beyond the walls of the fort.
This is one of a series of photographs of Agra by Dr John Murray which were published in a volume with accompanying captions by J Middleton. Murray was an East India Company doctor who used waxed-paper negatives to produce photographs of the Mughal architecture of Agra and the surrounding area.
