Photograph of the Maharaja of Vizianagram. He is standing facing forwards with his right arm resting on the pillar beside him. He is wearing a decorative tunic with a sash, long boots and a hat with a small feather. He is holding a sword in his left hand. There is a small sculpture of a woman on top of the pillar and a chair to either side of the Maharaja.
 
This is one of a series of photographs from a published volume documenting the tour the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, made of India in 1875-76.
 
Presented to Alexandra, Princess of Wales by her husband the Prince of Wales at Christmas 1876
