English photographer who worked with the London Stereoscopic Co. (1854-1862) traveling to Ireland, the USA and Paris. He is credited with being the first photographer to take photographs of America that were distributed commercially in Europe. His 1859 image of Blondin crossing the Niagara Falls on a tightrope became the company‘s best-selling photograph. After 1863 he became freelance and traveled to Switzerland, the Tyrol and Italy and published an album of 77 panoramic views in 1865.
