At the same sale a photograph of the hands of Georgia O'Keeffe taken by Alfred Stieglitz sells for $1,472,000 and a nude portrait of her, also by Stieglitz, for $1,360,000. The images were part of the Gilman Paper Co. collection acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art but they already had duplicates and so they were put up for sale. |
